Aircraft Detailing FAQs

Answers to the questions we’re asked most about aircraft detailing: booking, weather, the different services, timings and costs. If your question isn’t here, give us a ring on 01268 204 607 and we’ll be happy to help.

Booking and weather

How far in advance do I need to book?

We recommend booking one to two weeks ahead, especially in spring and summer. We always do our best to fit in last-minute requests, so call us on 01268 204 607 and we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day?

Exterior work needs suitable conditions. If the forecast is against us, we’ll contact you early to agree a new date. Where hangar space is available at the FBO or MRO, we can often carry on regardless. Interior work can usually go ahead whatever the weather.

Do you offer regular cleaning contracts?

Yes. We work with owners, operators and management companies on scheduled cleaning plans, so your aircraft always looks its best without you having to rebook each time. Customers who sign up to an annual contract with regular services get discounted rates.

Our services

What’s the difference between a wash, a polish and a ceramic coating?

A wash removes surface dirt and grime. A polish brings back gloss and removes light oxidation and marks. A ceramic coating adds a long-lasting protective layer that makes later cleans quicker and helps shield the paint from UV and contamination. Our guide to aircraft cleaning vs aircraft detailing explains more.

Is ceramic protection worth it?

For aircraft that fly often or are parked outside, it often is, because it cuts the time and cost of keeping them clean. We’ll give you an honest recommendation based on how your aircraft is used.

Do you offer waterless washing?

Yes. Our dry wash cleans the aircraft by hand without running water, so it’s ideal for airports where water use or run-off is restricted. Where deeper cleaning is needed, we use a targeted wet wash. Read more about the aircraft dry wash.

Do you clean interiors?

Yes. Our interior deep clean covers leather and fabric seats, carpets and floor runners, the headliner, sidewalls and window shades, wood veneer and fittings, the galley, the washroom and the cockpit. We use products that are safe for cabin materials, and only approved wipes on screens and avionics surfaces. See our guide to private jet interior cleaning.

Do you provide disinfection and cleaning certificates?

Yes. We offer cabin disinfection fogging, and can supply cleaning and compliance certificates for your maintenance and operational records.

Do you clean engine cowlings and landing gear?

Yes. We degrease and clean external engine cowlings, wheel wells and landing gear. This is included in our Gold package, and available as an add-on to any other service.

Do you carry out aircraft maintenance?

Yes. We carry out maintenance through our approved MRO partner, and coordinate the whole process for you, from the first call to handing the aircraft back. All maintenance work is carried out and signed off by the MRO’s licensed engineers under their approvals.

Aircraft, coverage and timings

What aircraft do you work on?

Business jets and private aircraft, from light jets to large-cabin jets such as the Bombardier Challenger and Global. No job is too small, so if you’re not sure, just ask.

Which areas do you cover?

We’re fully mobile and based in Essex. We cover the London-area airports, including Stansted, Southend, Biggin Hill, Farnborough, Luton, London City and Cranfield, and can travel anywhere in the UK. See aircraft detailing in London.

Do you work at FBOs and MROs?

Yes. We come to the aircraft wherever it’s parked: on the apron, in a hangar, at the FBO or at the MRO. We arrange access and timings with the handler, so you don’t have to. Detailing while the aircraft is in for maintenance avoids any extra downtime.

How long will my aircraft be on the ground?

A wash typically takes four to eight hours. A polish or ceramic coating can take anything from two to four days, depending on the aircraft’s size and condition. We’ll confirm the timings with you before we start.

Prices and quotes

How much does aircraft detailing cost?

It depends on the size of the aircraft, its condition and the service you choose. Our exterior wash starts from £1,000, and our interior deep clean from £1,500. Our guide to aircraft cleaning costs in the UK explains what affects the price.

How do I get a quote?

Tell us the aircraft type, where it’s based and the service you’re interested in, and we’ll come back to you with a clear quote. For anything urgent, call our 24-hour line on 01268 204 607.

Are you insured?

Yes. We hold aviation liability insurance covering work on aircraft, and can provide the cover level and certificate on request.
